Meu hd externo não aparece no meu computador

Galera, Meu hd externo não aparece no meu computador. aparece disco H (sem volume) quando tento abrir ele trava meu windows inteirinho. quando desconecto ele destrava. quando abro gerenciador de disco nao aparece nenhum disco nem o C. eu uso o windows 8.1, testei em um notbook Tambem 8,1 e nada. coloquei ele na minha Tv e leu meus filmes, musicas, fotos,  Etc.. mas no meu computador nao aparece nada. Me ajude por favor..
