Ubuntu 10.04 - Problemas com drivers da Acer e com placa de vídeo

Galera, estou com o Ubuntu 10.04 instalado no meu notebook e estou com alguns problemas. Não consigo baixar os drivers do meu note... Tenho um Acer aspire 4736z... Outra questão é com relação à placa de vídeo... vira e meche aparece na minha tela, alguns riscos, como se tivesse um problema na placa do meu monitor... não sei se é drive mal instalado... mas é horrível... também gostaria de saber, pq qndo eu atualizo minha versão do Ubuntu, meu monitor se desliga e tenho que formatar e reinstalar a versão 10.04? como poderei atualizar minha versão?? aguardo contato...
