EXPLIQUEM EM "COMPUTADOR" O QUE É ´DATA (E)`?

Question

Venho me perguntando o por que de, ao ver  no meu notebook as unidades de disco rígido, em "Computador", vejo lá: DATA (E), e OS (C).
Pois bem, mas é que sempre noto que a unidade DATA (E) sempre está vazia, no meu caso, por mais que eu use, nunca sai dos 144 gb livres de 144 gb, já a unidade OS (C) essa, sim, está com seus 234 gb livres de um total de 295 gb.  
    Aí é que entra minha pergunta aos senhores aí do outro lado: pra que serve essa unidade DATA (E), se ela nunca sai do mesmo? Seria uma unidade de armazenamento reserva? Sugiro que chequem em vossos computadores  e pode ser que haja a mesma coisa com vocês.
