Return match with Woori Card after 3 years… 1st match at Jangchungseo on the 23rd

OK Financial Group, which reached the men’s professional volleyball postseason for the first time in three years, struggled to shake off Hyundai Capital’s pursuit and advanced to the playoffs (PO, 2 wins out of 3).

OK Financial Group, ranked 3rd in the regular league, defeated 4th placed Hyundai Capital with a set score of 3-2 (22-25 25- 22 25-21 22-25 15-13).

OK Financial Group defeated KB Insurance in the semi-PO three years ago and then bowed to Woori Card in the PO with two losses.

The first PO match between the two teams will begin at 7 p.m. on the 23rd at Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul, Woori Card’s home stadium.

Hyundai Capital, who dramatically secured the spring volleyball ticket with a record of 5 wins and 1 loss in the 6th round of the regular league, produced a spectacular game with all their might, but was just one point short of securing a ticket to Jangchung.

OK Financial Group’s ‘solver’ Leonardo Leyva Martinez (registered name Leo) scored 43 points, the highest score ever for a semi-PO, putting the team in PO status and being selected as the Most Valuable Player (MVP).

As the two teams faced each other 6 times this season, going 5 sets on 4 occasions and finishing with 3 wins and 3 losses, they played a close match with no regrets in spring volleyball.

When Hyundai Capital mobilized both wings and the center to win the first set with total volleyball in which everyone scored, OK Financial Group responded with Leo’s one-man show.

Leo scored 20 points alone until the second set.

OK Financial Group took the victory in the closely contested third set, 21-20, thanks to Hyundai Capital’s Ahmed Ikhbairi (registered name: Ahmed)’s offensive mistake, and quickly accumulated set points with Song Hee-chae’s clever touch-out score and Leo’s refreshing back attack.

Left-handed striker Shin Ho-jin and outside heater Song Hee-chae supported Leo, who was struggling, and gave OK Financial Group a breather in scoring.

However, in the 4th set, when they were trailing 22-23, Leo’s back attack completely missed the court, and OK Financial Group was dragged to the 5th set.

Hyundai Capital seemed to be on the cusp of victory thanks to Jeon Kwang-in’s 3 consecutive blocker touch-out scores, but when Leo scored 4 consecutive back attack scores to bring the game back to square one, the 5th set turned into a seesaw game again.

In the end, at 13-13, Hyundai Capital’s Jeon Kwang-in’s serve error became the watershed for victory.

For OK Financial Group, when Leo cleared Heo Soo-bong’s open attack at the match point, setter Kwak Myeong-woo raised the ball to the left, and Shin Ho-jin made a big swing with his left arm and scored a touchout, putting an end to the bloody battle. https://cloudim.copiny.com/idea/details/id/200595

Song Hee-chae contributed 15 points and Shin Ho-jin contributed 12 points.

In Hyundai Capital, the trio of Ahmed (29 points), Heo Soo-bong (23 points), and Jeon Gwang-in (18 points) struggled, but were caught up in 33 mistakes, 12 more than OK Financial Group.

In particular, in the 5th set, 5 beomsils poured out and I swallowed my tears.
